If we could give out our own awards, Mahershala Ali would be the undisputed man of the year.

Although his notable breakout role was back in 2008 for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button it was his recent roles in Netflix series, House of Cards and Luke Cage, as well as award-winning films, Hidden Figures and Moonlight, that made Ali a household name. He recently sat down with GQ Style to discuss his own personal Academy Awards winners and to discuss which films and actors inspired him most throughout his career. He discussed this while simultaneously delivering a killer photoshoot and we can't handle all this greatness at once.

He firmly believes that the Best Score should go to Nicholas Britell for what he did with Moonlight. It may seem bias but knowing that Britell drew inspiration from human sounds and mashed it up with classic musical while incorporating a hip-hop feel is deserving of an award. His favorite actress is Michelle Williams, a favorite animated film is Winnie The Pooh and his favorite director is Steven Soderbergh, someone he would be honored to work with.

Ali went on to credit Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker as "extraordinary" actors that he's taken tips and lessons from especially when making your presence known on-screen. He also shared that the only person he wants to take a selfie with at the Oscars is Mr. Washington himself. Universe, please make that happen! Until then, enjoy the rest of these breathtaking photos.
