Norman Reggie Houston Jr., a gay wedding planner, is dealing with serious injuries after he was beaten by bouncers at a Texas nightclub.

Speaking to Fox 26, Houston said he was attending an LGBTQ-themed event with friends at Hamburger Mary’s on Saturday when he was attacked.

Houston said he and his friends were trying to leave the club when security told them they had to wait. The wedding planner said he then jokingly picked up a bottle of alcohol by the bar and told his friends he needed a drink for the wait time.

Houston added that he never actually took a drink from the bottle.

“Probably not even a few minutes later I saw an African American male…really buff with long hair coming at me with two other guys. The only thing I remember, the words he said were you said something to my sister? Then he hit me and that’s all I remember,” Houston told Fox 26.

Video of the incident, which went viral, shows one bouncer holding Houston in a choke hold and another guard punching him in the face at least 11 times.

The Texas man was left with an injured throat, as well as bloody and bruised eyes and a broken leg.

Carl A. Moore, Houston’s attorney, told Fox 26 that he has been reaching out to Hamburger Mary’s repeatedly, but has not received a response. The attorney adds that he he plans to work closely with the DA’s office to bring criminal charges.
