Like many child celebrities, Marsai Martin, 18, grew up under a microscope, and her coming of age has made it no different. Martin’s maturity has left fans missing her child-like innocence on screen. While visiting Hot 97’s Ebro In the Morning to promote the new Paramount+ film Fantasy Football — alongside Kelly Rowland — the topic of conversation came into play.

During the interview, Ebro and Laura Stylez mentioned Martin walking in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Vol 4. fashion show. Many were stunned by her sultry ensemble, a multi-colored leopard print bodysuit that hugged her curves.

“People had a very hard time accepting that you’re grown,” Laura Stylez said to Martin.

Martin expressed she wasn’t aware of the remarks, nor does she care about all the criticism she’s received about being “too grown” during the show.

“Hmm, I don’t really don’t care to be completely honest,” she said. “We just minding our young, rich, and Black business. To be honest, outside opinions don’t really matter to me when I know my path, and I know my opportunities and what I’m capable of.”

Despite her not wearing lingerie, fans are having endless conversations about the young adult and how they aren’t ready for the Grown-ish star to bloom into herself.

Martin clarified that she was not wearing lingerie or “out there trying to show chi chi’s and stuff.”

“I would never put myself in a position for failure any exposure of any kind,” she continued. “I’ve given nothing but grace in any of this, and I have amazing parents that are by my side always —protecting me always.”

“Like how people gonna feel when I grow and start having kids and get married and stuff?” Martin asked. “That’s just what happens.”

Martin is undeniably beautiful, and fans will have to accept she’s not a young child anymore.
