I'd say this is a tremendous opportunity for any of you parents out there with teens who'll be home this summer, and are at all interested in cinema.

The Maysles Institute – the non-profit organization dedicated to the exhibition and production of inspiring and inciting documentary films, with programs that engage diverse communities – is currently accepting applications for its Summer Documentary Film Program, which is a 6-week course for teen filmmakers.

Under the guidance of film professionals, those who get into the program are taught documentary filmmaking techniques, "using an approach that emphasizes direct observation and personal experience."

It's a FREE initiative that runs from July 5th – August 15th, with sessions taking place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; interested students/parents should submit an application to be considered, by MONDAY, APRIL 30TH! So, just about 1 week away! Hurry up…

To apply download the application HERE and then email the completed app to: [email protected]

Good luck!
