Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin have announced their divorce after nine years of marriage. The news was confirmed by People, who has a statement from the couple about their split.
“After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected,” the two said in their statement. “We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love.”
“We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as husband and wife,” they continued. “We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other.”
The divorce comes as a surprise since the couple has been open about sharing their marriage with their fans, including writing a book in 2015, 'The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love.'
The couple also posted anniversary tributes to each other six months prior to their divorce announcement. People also reports that Franklin posted a celebratory post about Good’s role on Harlem Dec. 2, writing, “She’s one of the most talented actors on the planet AND she’s funnier than you may know[.]”
Along with Harlem, which is currently streaming on Amazon, Good can be seen next in DC film Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Franklin, an avid producer of faith-based and family content, is currently producing Masters of the Universe, Kingdom Business and the biopic of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos creator Richard Montanez, Flamin’ Hot. Franklin is also producing a film based on pastor Michael Todd’s book, Relationship Goals: How to Win at Dating, Marriage, and Sex, as well as a bipoic on gospel star Kirk Franklin.
