Well like they say, you learn something new every day.

The brother in the photo is Peter Ramsey, who is the director of Paramount/Dreamworks Animation's new feature film, Rise of the Guardians, which is coming out on Nov. 21.

There are, of course, many people of color involved in animation, but Ramsey is, to my knowledge, the first one involved as director for such a major, big budget, studio release as Guardians.

His background is rather interesting, starting out as storyboard artist in the early 1990's on many live action movies, such as Panic Room, A.I., Man in Black, Minority Report and Fight Club. 

Along the way, he also worked as the second unit director on a few films, including two John Singleton pictures – Higher Learning and Poetic Justice.

He eventually, about five years ago, became involved with Dreamworks Animation as an artist and director on a couple of TV projects, which in turn resulted in his biggest challenge and carrer move to date, directing the Guardians feature.
