Raven-Symoné is making a return to Disney in the spin-off of her 2000s Disney Channel sitcom, That’s So Raven.
In a new preview for the show released by the network, we’re meeting Raven’s kids and Chelsea’s son.
Raven’s Home will follow Raven (Raven-Symoné) and Chelsea (Anneliese van der Pol reprising her role), who are now divorced single mothers raising their two separate families in one chaotic but fun household full of friends. When one of Raven’s kids begins to show signs that they have inherited her trait of catching glimpses of the future, the already hectic household gets turned upside down, keeping even Raven on her toes.
Issac Brown and Navia Robinso play Raven’s 11-year-old twins, Booker and Nia, respectively, and Jason Maybaum plays Chelsea’s 9-year-old son, Levi. We also know that Jonathan McDaniel, who portrayed Raven’s on-again-off-again boyfriend, Devon, will reprise his role and make appearances as her now-ex-husband.
If Brown looks familiar, that’s because you may have seen him play a young Dre (Anthony Anderson) on black-ish, or most notably a young Wes (Alfred Enoch) on the most recent season of How to Get Away With Murder.
Here’s hoping that the show doesn’t follow the same fate as Disney’s last spin-off of a beloved favorite, Girl Meets World, which was canceled by the network after three seasons, despite having a strong cult following.
That’s So Raven originally aired on the Disney Channel from 2003-2007. Raven-Symoné won two Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for her role. The series also was nominated for Best Children’s Program at the Primetime Emmys. At the time of its premiere, That’s So Raven was one of the highest-rated Disney Channel Original programs ever.
Raven-Symoné serves as an executive producer on the spin-off series “Raven’s Home” which will premiere on Friday, July 21st on Disney Channel.
