Update (July 1, 2021): Whoopi Goldberg and the hosts of The View recalled a previous conversation with Meghan McCain's dad, warning them of her tendency to be a "pain in the ass."

Meghan, the daughter of late Senator John McCain, gave a lengthy speech on Thursday’s show, informing viewers that her father was the reason she accepted the role in the first place.

“…[Senator McCain] said that I could never give up an opportunity to work on such an iconic show and to work with Whoopi Goldberg and he was right. It was one of the last things he told me to do before he died,” she said.

During the show, Meghan joked with her co-hosts Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Ana Navarro, saying her father warned them that she would be a “pain in the ass.” Goldberg laughed and said, “He did say that!”

Hostin chimed in and recalled the conversation the late senator had with them prior to his daughter joining the daytime show.

“He told me to take it easy on Meghan, that I would learn to love her and understand her, and that she would be a pain in the ass, and he was right about all of those things,” Hostin said.

Meghan has been known for getting into heated debates with her co-hosts daily.

In April 2019, Goldberg and Meghan got into a verbal exchange when the two couldn't agree on formerly incarcerated people's right to vote, as Blavity previously reported

Just a few months later, Goldberg was fed up with Meghan after she continued to interrupt the other co-hosts.

"This show has always had the ability to have different points of view which we respect around the table. And when we talk to each other, we also exhibit respect. When I'm saying to you 'hold up,' because we're not hearing each other, I’m not trying to cut you off, I’m trying to get you heard,” Goldberg said during the show back in October.

Meghan continued her antics into the new year with Goldberg, once again, upset with her co-hosts for being disrespectful to the other women.

“Girl, please stop talking,” Goldberg said to Meghan as she talking over Hostin.

“No Problem, I won’t talk for the rest of the show,” Meghan quickly replied.

“I’m OK with that. If you’re going to behave like this and talk over people then we’re doing nothing,” Goldberg said.

Although Meghan has found herself in multiple tense moments with her co-hosts on The View, they seem to be fond of the 36-year-old and wish her well in her future endeavors.

“I really, really appreciated the fact that you were a formidable opponent in many ways and that you spoke your mind, and you’re no snowflake, missy,” Behar said.

Meghan plans to leave the talk show at the end of July.

Original (July 1, 2021): After almost four years, the highly contentious conservative Meghan McCain is announcing she will be leaving The View, People reports.

With two years remaining on her contract, the 36-year-old pundit and daughter of late politician John McCain, plans to announce her exit during Thursday's episode. She will remain on the show until the end of July, the Daily Mail reports. According to the Daily Mail’s sources, McCain's co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Ana Navarro were not directly informed of Meghan's resignation.

“We have tried to keep her, but she is adamant that now is the right time for her to leave,” a source at Disney told the Daily Mail.

Despite her daily squabbles with Goldberg, Behar, and Hostin, Meghan confirmed that she would continue her co-duties on the hit show last January.

“Because whether we like it or not, I’m not going anywhere on the show, Joy’s not going anywhere on the show, we all have to live and co-exist together just like Americans right now,” she said in an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

As expected, the response from Twitter was swift and hilarious.

As Blavity previously reported, Meghan has gained a reputation for her controversial statements and uncouth behavior toward her co-hosts. Recently, she was educated by LeVar Burton on “cancel culture” and was taken to task for defending GOP candidates accused of grossly inappropriate sexual conduct.
