Police in Memphis, Tennessee, arrested a man and charged him with the murder of his 2-day-old daughter and the infant's mother, NBC News reports.
Brandon Isabelle, 25, confessed to coaxing 27-year-old Danielle Hoyle into a location before fatally shooting her and tossing the baby, Kennedy Hoyle, into the Mississippi River along with the weapon, CBS News reports.
"Kennedy Hoyle has not been located; however, evidence suggests that she is deceased. The search will continue to recover her remains," Memphis Police wrote in an official press release posted on Facebook.
Isabelle faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder, murder in the perpetration of aggravated kidnapping, and tampering with/fabricating evidence, the Memphis Police Department announced, NBC News reports.
Danielle's mother said her daughter didn't deserve to be killed.
"You can cry so much that tears don't even come down your eyes anymore. … I haven't slept. I haven't slept," Danielle's mother, April Campbell, said, according to WMC-TV.
"Danielle, she's missed by everybody," Campbell said. "Young folks make mistakes, but that wasn't a mistake. There wasn't a reason to kill my daughter."
“I want him to suffer like he made my baby suffer," she said. "I want him to hurt. I don’t want it to be easy for him. I want him to suffer. He needs to suffer. Why would you hurt a baby?”
