Jasmine Jordan, the daughter of NBA legend Michael Jordan, revealed she once Googled her dad in the past to understand why her father is admired by so many.

After his official retirement in 2003, Michael Jordan solidified himself as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. And while the world will acknowledge him as such, his daughter, Jasmine Jordan, only sees her father as “dad.”

Jasmine shared that she had been contacting him constantly while learning more about her father, in the ESPN docuseries The Last Dance, AP News reports.

“I’m harassing him. He’s probably tired me of texting him,” Jasmine chuckled. “I think my brothers and I are doing it, probably alongside all of his friends — but, for me, it’s like, ‘Hey, I was super young.’ So, I am really taking this in as a fan.”

“And I am also trying to corroborate all of these stories that you were telling me all of these years,” she added. “Like just trying to make sure you weren’t just fabricating and making it bigger than what it was.’ So I am definitely texting him nonstop. I don’t think there’s been an episode or a Sunday that I haven’t been like, ‘Hey, this happened — let me hear your thoughts.'”

“When I was a child and growing up during that time, I didn’t really understand what was happening because I was so young. It didn’t resonate with me until I got older,” she continued. “And I laugh because I actually Googled my dad at one time just to figure out why everyone was so intrigued by him — Like you’re just dad. You’re not that cool. But lo and behold, he was kind of a big deal.”

In November, Jasmine spoke to Togethxr, an entertainment and media online platform in sports, about growing up as his daughter and how it wasn’t always easy for the 29-year-old.

“When people say that I am only me because of who my father is, I laugh naturally. There’s not one person that has encountered or worked with me that would agree with that statement,” Jasmine explained. “My work ethic really speaks for itself. I’m going to make sure that when I enter a room, you hear Jasmine before you hear Michael Jordan’s daughter.”

Jasmine works as a field representative for the Jordan Brand’s sports marketing division, highlighting female athletes as future icons.
