Over the weekend, Malia Obama — Michelle and Barack’s oldest daughter — celebrated her 24th birthday and received sweet coming-of-age messages from her parents.

Barack and Michelle Obama became parents 24 years ago. They wasted no time celebrating their daughter while gushing over their love for their firstborn on Instagram.

“Happy birthday, Malia – and Happy Fourth of July, everybody! 24 years ago, this day became extra special when your wonderful spirit arrived in this world. I’m so proud of the beautiful, caring and driven young woman you’ve become. I love you so, so much! Love, your Mommy,” Michelle captioned her photo.

The former president shared a sweet throwback photo of the two when Malia was just a baby on Instagram.

“Happy birthday, Malia! No matter how sophisticated, accomplished, beautiful and gracious a young woman you’ve become—you’ll always be my baby. And I will always be here to lift you up,” he wrote in his caption.

Since growing into her career path in film, Malia graduated from Harvard University in 2021 and worked alongside Donal Glover, Halle Berry, and Lena Dunham as an intern.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, Glover told them that the 24-year-old is a writer for his new Amazon series. The show is still in the scrap room but has a potential series title, “Hive.”

Malia plans on bringing her life experiences to the series’ writing, reportedly about a Beyoncé-esque character.

“She’s just like an amazingly talented person,” Glover said. “She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard.”

“I feel like she’s just somebody who’s gonna have really good things coming soon,” he added. “Her writing style is really great.”

Before penning for Glover’s latest series, Malia also interned on Lena Dunham’s “Girls” and at the Weinstein Company. Expanding her skills further, Malia previously worked as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s CBS sci-fi drama series “Extant.”
