Michelle Obama is no stranger to taking fashion risks and resultantly, appearing slayed by the gods.

In one of her final tour stops in promotion of her memoir Becoming, the mother of two's brightly colored ensemble that had social media reminding them of one of their favorite emojis. 

Mrs. Obama stepped onto the stage during her May 11 Atlanta stop donning a purple suit with an embellished black bustier. Los Angeles-based Black designer Sergio Hudson confirmed he dressed the 55-year-old that evening via an Instagram post.

"What an honor for our Forever First Lady @michelleobama to wear a custom suit from our Fall 2019 collection," a portion of his caption read. According to Hudson, the suit's official color is "eggplant."


The suit itself is stunning, but it was the quick comparison of the emoji which has a woman making a "hands up" gesture that had the internets talking.

"So just for the record. I’m stealing this and using it every chance I get," one commenter wrote.

"She does no wrong ????" another said (it's true).

"Will always be THE First Lady ????????," a final comment read.

Moderated by Gayle King, Obama's message included a reminder to the audience to make decisions in the present that will yield positive results in the future.

"We owe it to the young people in the world to be better. To be decent," she said, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. 

Obama spoke on developing her personal style in Becoming, admitting that she didn't want to come off as "showy" for the country's first Black first lady.

"As a Black woman, too, I knew I'd be criticized if I was perceived as being showy and high-end, and I'd also be criticized if I was too casual." the Chicago native said. "So I mixed it up. I'd match a Michael Kors skirt with a T-shirt from Gap. I wore something from Target one day and Diane von Furstenberg the next."
