Racial profiling ruins another routine thing in our black lives! This time, the scene of the crime is none other than Target. So, we can't even go into the store where we all overspend and not be racially profiled, huh?

Ashanea Davis is suing the popular retailer for an incident she claims occurred at the chain's Southfield, Michigan, location last month, ABC Philadelphia reports.

Davis claims she was racially profiled and accused of stealing a bathing suit. Two male loss prevention officers handcuffed and escorted her to the store's back room. She says she was then forced to lift up her shirt and pull down her pants.

"At first I was in shock, of course, and it was just very humiliating. I felt degraded. It was sad. I was very upset," Davis said.

“To obtain her freedom, she then has to pull up her shirt with two male employees at Target to prove she hasn’t stolen a bikini top and then she has to pull down her pants to prove she hasn’t stolen a bikini bottom. And only then would they let her leave Target,” one of her attorneys, Jasmine Rand, told WXYZ Detroit. Rand and her colleague Maurice Davis will represent Davis as she sues Target Corporation for racial and gender discrimination.

“We want everyone who shops at Target to feel welcomed and respected, and take any allegations of mistreatment seriously," Target said in a statement. "We’re sorry for the actions of our former team member, who created an experience we don’t want any guest to have at Target. Upon reviewing our team’s actions, we terminated the team member who was directly involved and are addressing the situation with the security team at the store."

That apology isn't quite enough for Davis, who said, “Someone needs to be held accountable, and it shouldn’t happen to anyone else."
