The Walking Dead season 3, episode 1 will air on SundayOctober 14, at 9pm, as announced by producer Glen Mazzara during the hit show's Comic-Con panel last month, where a preview of season 3 was shown to fans who were present (it's embedded below if you haven't seen it).

Also revealed during the panel was that season 3 would air in two 8-episode parts – the first starting on October 14, and the second beginning in February 2013

Series executive producer Gale Ann Hurd added: "Michonne kicks ass with a katanna sword. The intensity level is incredible…"

Looking forward to it.

Something tells me that Danai Gurira's life is about change in a major way. All the excitement and anticipation since it was announced months ago that she will be playing Michonne. The pressure that she might be feeling… but it all must be thrilling to be suddenly thrust onto the world stage like this – although she's been at this (acting, writing – she's also a playwright) for a few years now.

Look for her in Andrew Dosunmu's upcoming feature Ma'George, which is currently in post-production. She stars in it.

Entertainment Weekly's issue this week will come in 4 different covers featuring characters from The Walking Dead, which you can see below, and guess who one of them is?

Ernest Dickerson is directing the premiere episode for season 3.
