It should come as no surprise to fans of E4’s Misfits that, slowly but surely, members of the U.K. show’s stellar cast are branching off and attaching themselves to higher-profile projects. We saw Ruth Negga do it this summer with her starring role in the BBC’s Shirley Bassey bio-pic, Shirley.
Now ScreenDaily.com is reporting that her Misfits co-star Antonia Thomas will head up the cast of the upcoming psychological horror film Rearview. Also starring will be Jamie Sives, Jay Simpson and James Floyd. Writer Avril E. Russell will also direct the feature film.
Backed by LA/London-based Stealth Media Group’s Indie Label, Stealth Indie, and David Rogers’ SPEIS Ltd., Rearview is being produced by Stella Nwimo (Northpoint Pictures) and Michael L B Cowan (Spice Factory).
An official synopsis doesn’t seem to be readily available, but ScreenDaily.com describes it as “psychological road horror”, so you can play around with that idea in your head and try to guess just what type of film this might be. Rearview’s promotional poster, which reads “The Terror Starts The Moment She Stops”, also features imagery that would lead one to believe that the film’s focus is on some sort of highway misfortune. That already sounds scary to me.
There’s no official word on the start of the film’s production, but I’ll provide additional details on this project as I get them.
