Misrach Ewunetie, a 20-year-old student at Princeton University, has been found dead after she went missing for nearly a week. Ewunetie, who was last seen on Oct. 14 at about 3 a.m. near a dormitory building at the school, was found on campus on Thursday, NPR reports.

A facilities employee found the student behind some tennis courts at the school. New Jersey’s Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said there were no obvious signs of injury and her death does not appear suspicious or criminal in nature.  An autopsy will be conducted to determine her cause of death, officials said in a statement.

The school’s department of public safety issued a missing alert on Monday after Ewunetie’s family contacted officials, saying they had not heard from their loved one in days.

“Misrach’s death is an unthinkable tragedy,” Princeton Vice President W. Rochelle Calhoun said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to her family, her friends and the many others who knew and loved her.”

According to CNN, Ewunetie’s family said they had been “kept in the dark” by authorities.

“There’s no constant update or interaction with us,” the student’s older brother, Universe Ewunetie, told CNN on Thursday before his sister’s body was found. “We’re really kept in the dark.”

Ewunetie, an undergraduate student, was expected to graduate in 2024. Universe said his sister was a “precious, beautiful soul,” a “great listener” and someone who “cares about people beyond her.”

Ewunetie was volunteering at Terrace Club, one of the University’s 11 eating clubs, on Oct. 13, The Daily Princetonian reports. The junior was a member on “duty” on that night. She was performing housekeeping tasks during a live music performance at the club.

“On Thursday night, one of our members who was initially signed up for duty was unable to attend our event, and Misrach volunteered to cover their shift. After the club had closed and all of the duty responsibilities had been fulfilled, Misrach—as well as the other members on duty—left for the night,” Terrace Club’s student officers said in a statement to The Daily Princetonian.

The club’s leaders said “the entire Terrace community is sending our love and support to Ewunetie’s family during this extraordinarily difficult and uncertain time.”

Universe said his sister went back to her dorm at 3 a.m. before she went missing.

“Her roommates said they saw her at 3 a.m. Then another roommate of hers said she didn’t see her after 4, and then after that that no one has seen her,” the heartbroken brother told NBC News.

According to The U.S. Sun, Universe said the family came to the U.S. from Ethiopia in 2008 and lived in Ohio. Ewunetie was scheduled for an interview on Saturday regarding her American citizenship application, but her brother was told she didn’t show up.
