Oscar-winning comedienne Mo'Nique has fired back after comedian Gary Owen took to Instagram to defend his good friend, movie producer Will Packer.
The heated exchange between the two started over the weekend when Mo'Nique shared video and several emails calling out Packer for alleged issues on the set of 2016's Almost Christmas.
In those emails, Sidney Hicks, Mo'Nique's husband and manager, accused Packer of intimidating the actress while on set and attempting to ruin her character. Her post also included video footage of fire-damaged trailers which Mo'Nique claims Packer never sent notice to actors about their belongings.
This new beef occurs amid a proposed Netflix boycott called by Mo'Nique over claims that she was low-balled during a comedy special negotiation with the streaming giant.
Owen took it upon himself to defend Packer by requesting the comedienne own her actions.
"Mo'Nique blames everybody … Will Packer, has done more for black actors & actresses than just about anybody in the past 10 years….he is a good brother," Owen said in a video posted yesterday.
Today, she took to Twitter demanding that Owen be an advocate for his "black wife and daughter," and not a spokesperson for folks like Packer.
Gary I hope you fight as hard for your African American wife and daughter for the inequalities that they face. For all the black people you say he's help. WHY ARE YOU SPEAKING FOR THEM. WE DON'T NEED A SPOKESPERSON. With all you said I still don't have nothing but love for u.
