During her performance in Detroit on Saturday, comedian Mo’Nique called out DL Hughley over a contract dispute, according to USA Today.
The dispute between the two performers started over a contractual agreement about the Precious actress headlining the show. Mo’Nique unleashed a fiery tirade at the Fox Theatre, ripping into the promoters and Hughley.
During the 105.9 KISS-FM’s The Comedy Explosion, she told the audience that her contract specified her as the headliner.
“That’s what the motherf**king contract says… Mo’Nique is to be the last motherf**king person on the got damn stage. She is the headliner. That’s what I signed the contract for,” she said, according to HotNewHipHop.

The 54-year-old continued to dig into Hughley’s character. She lashed out at him, calling him out for his jokes, and questioned his sexuality based on the initials of his stage name.
“What kind of real n***a would ever attack a got damn Black woman? N***a your name is D.L. What the f**k does it stand for? How far are you bending over n***a? On the DL,” she said.
DL Hughley took to his Instagram account to defend himself and address the “Almost Christmas” star’s allegations.
“All you have to do is check the order of names on the ticket stub from last night and you’ll see who’s confused. Against my better judgment, over the objections of my team and 4 other occasions where I said NO, I decided to take a chance and work with Monique. Oprah was the problem, Tyler Perry was the problem, Charlamagne was the problem, Steve Harvey was the problem, Lee Daniels was the problem, Netflix was the problem… Now it’s MY turn,” he wrote on Instagram.
“At some point it can’t be everyone else, IT’S YOU!! Lesson learned. I didn’t have anything personal against Monique… People paid a lot of money to laugh, not hear about your contract. Apparently, the role you played in PRECIOUS turned out to be an autobiography. I wonder who’s next,” he continued.

He also posted images of the contract that stated he was the headlining act for The Comedy Explosion show, and that he would conclude the event.
“After this… I don’t want hear no mo’ about this,” he wrote. “If you have a problem, take it up with management and by that I mean yours.”

He also called out Hick’s Media Inc., saying Mo’Nique should take up her issues with them for making an incomplete contract.

Mo’Nique countered Hughley’s follow-up and provided her own receipts, showing documentation that she occupied the headliner slot, and emphasized the signatures on her performance agreement.

“If you notice mine has signatures and D.L. does not,” Mo’Nique pointed out about her contract. “What type of iron clad agreement doesn’t have the signatures of the participants involved?”
“That said, D.L. we the people will be waiting for your signed agreement,” she added.
Mo’Nique also posted on her now-disabled Twitter account that the conflict with Hughley is why she fights so hard because of the partiality shown to women in the business.
He was the opener for the kings of comedy not a headliner. She was a headliner for the queen of comedy. Big difference love pic.twitter.com/Rxv4g34UyS

“You think you should close the show over me is a prime example of the bias that Black women have to deal with in this business I won’t even discuss awards,” she wrote and concluded with, “I love us 4Real.”
