A woman who’s been identified as LaKevia Jackson, the mother of Young Thug’s child, was shot and killed at an Atlanta bowling alley on Thursday night, WSB-TV reports. Jackson was visiting the Metro Fun Center for a birthday party when an argument over a bowling ball broke out.
The altercation quickly turned violent, and Jackson was shot while leaving the alley.
“This is truly an atrocity. A young woman has lost her life tonight as a result of an argument over a bowling ball,” Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Commander Lt. Ralph Woolfolk said.
“We talk about conflict resolution time and time again, and once again, this is an escalated dispute over a bowling ball,” Woolfolk continued.
Police haven't identified a suspect yet.
No arrests have been made, as police haven’t identified any suspects as of Friday afternoon. Woolfolk, however, promised to “find the person who’s responsible” for the shooting. The Atlanta police department held a press conference on Friday where they said they spoke to a woman about the case, but didn’t identify her as a suspect. The police aren’t releasing any details about the investigation or the suspect. Though, they believe they’re close to making an arrest based on ballistic and surveillance evidence, as well as witness testimony.
“You know who you are. Go ahead and turn yourself in. We assure you that we will bring you into custody,” Woolfolk said.
Jackson's mother described her daughter as "light, positive and so sweet."
Jackson’s mother, Sherina Jackson, told CBS 46 she was on the phone with her daughter when the shooting took place.
“I didn’t know that was going to be the last time I talked to my baby,” Sherina shared. “I could hear her over the phone crying and screaming then her best friend said she’s not breathing! … I lost my baby all over a bowling ball.”
Jackson and Young Thug, born Jeffrey Lamar Williams, share a son together, 14-year-old Kyvion Jackson. She and the rapper met before his rap career took off.
