A recent episode of The Skin Deep featured a mother and her young daughter engaging in a tear-jerking conversation as the child posed some emotional questions.
"If you could give me anything in the world, what would it be and why?" the daughter asked, according to the clip shared to Instagram.
The mother struggled to contain her tears as she replied.
"There's so much," she said. "A better place to live, a better environment, your own room."
After pausing for a moment to control her emotions, the mother continued to list more of her wishes.
"Peace inside," she said. "I want to give you opportunities that I didn't have. I want to give you opportunities that may not always be available to you for many reasons. And we talk about that at home, yes?"
The child followed up with another question, asking her mom about the moment she gave birth to her.
"Mommy had to have an emergency C-section, which made me very upset," the mother said. "I went in and I wasn't all the way asleep. I was awake, but they numbed me."
As the nurse received the baby and prepared to announce the child's gender, she was told to hold off from making the announcement.
"Everybody said 'no.' Because I didn't want to know what you were," the woman told her child.
The nurse then wrapped up the infant and gave her to the mother, who was still on the operating table.
"And I saw your face and it was a little golden face with a little yellow hat," the woman said. "And I said, 'Oh, she's beautiful.'"
The child interrupted her mother's answer at that point, wondering how she knew the baby was a girl.
"I said look at that face. I know my baby," the woman said.
