In my review of Djo Tunda Wa Munga's crime drama, Viva Riva!, I highlighted the film's audacious depictions of the kind of orchestrated sexuality and violence rarely seen in African cinema (specifically cinema of the DRC – the Democratic Republic Of The Congo, where such scenes, while a reflection of reality, are taboo); a kind of "fuck-you" to the status quo in a country that hadn't seen a feature film produced in over 2 decades.
If you didn't get a chance to see the film when it was in release over the summer, you can see it, not only on DVD and Blu-ray (released on September 27th), but now also on VOD – specifically Netflix. That's right, you can stream it on Netflix right now, if you have an account with the virtual DVD rental company.
And it's in HD too! So turn on that Roku player, large flat screen TV, grab a seat, get comfy, and enjoy!
