An unidentified gunman opened fire during a Madden NFL 19 livestream tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, killing several attendees. 

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reports the suspected gunman killed three people and wounded several others. According to local news outlet News4Jax, there are at least nine people injured. Gamers were taking part in the tournament held at the Jacksonville Landing complex before shots rang out. 

One of the most shared videos of the event showed a black gamer being targeted by the gunman. A laser dot appeared on his sweatshirt before the video cut off.

Sources told News4Jax the gunman turned the gun on himself after targeting and firing upon attendees. Authorities are not sure if he acted alone. 

Los Angeles Times reporter Matt Pearce tweeted the gunman was a gamer who lost at the competition. At this point, there is little known about the shooter's motives. 

Electronic Arts, the company that produces Madden NFL 19tweeted the following statement: "We are aware of an incident at a sanctioned Madden Championship Series competition in Jacksonville. We are working with authorities to gather facts at this stage."
