Delegates of the NAACP unanimously voted on Tuesday to call on the House to carry out impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

The NAACP was first founded in 1909 and is the nation’s oldest nonpartisan civil rights group.

In a Tuesday press release, President and CEO of the NAACP Derrick Johnson said the 45th president has been more undoubtedly problematic.

“The pattern of Trump’s misconduct is unmistakable and has proven time and time again, that he is unfit to serve as the president of this country," Johnson said.

In the statement, Johnson mentions a number of Trump’s controversies since taking office. From attempting to curtail the Robert Mueller investigation, to racist remarks he has made toward congresswomen belonging to ethnic minorities, to the caging of immigrant children at the border among other impeachable offenses.

The press release also identifies Trump as one of the most racist and xenophobic administration since the Jim Crow era and firmly demands he be held accountable for the crimes he has committed.

The NAACP intends to be “at the forefront” of pushing Congress to impeach the president.

According to the official website of the NAACP, the mission of the organization is “to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.”

According to the Associated Press, President Trump announced last week that he would not be attending the NAACP convention in Detroit because he did not want to do a Q&A with the attending audience.
