Add Nadine Patterson’s meta-fictional film Tango Macbeth to the list.

The film will see a limited theatrical release, starting on Thursday, January 23, 2014, and with you demanding it via Tugg, it could play at a theater near you.

Philadelphia, PA (December 29, 2013)—The lush, crazy and kinetic debut feature of Nadine Patterson– TANGO MACBETH — will start a limited theatrical release via TUGG.COM at the Ritz 5 theater on Thursday at 7:30pm January 23^rd, 2014. It will then screen in Cherry Hill, NJ; Pittsburgh, PA; and Cleveland, OH. Other screenings for New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Savannah and all points in between will be announced in early 2014.

Synopsis: Shakespeare, dance and world music! A theater company rehearses Macbeth. A film crew documents their every move. The drama of the play intertwines with the drama of making the film. It’s unlike any version of Macbeth you have ever seen.

Produced and directed by the mother-daughter team Marlene Patterson (producer) and Nadine Patterson (director), TANGO MACBETH is their first feature length project. Their previous films include Anna Russell Jones: Praisesong for a Pioneering Spirit (Winner Best Documentary at Chicago’s African American Women in the Arts Film/Video Festival) and Moving with the Dreaming (winner Prized Pieces Award from the National Black Programming Consortium). TANGO MACBETH has played at film festivals in Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Argentina, and Paris. It is the first time a feature film adaptation of Shakespeare’s work has been released in theaters that is written and directed by an African American woman.
