Four-time major tennis champion and former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka announced she is pregnant and expecting her first child with her boyfriend, rapper Cordae formerly YBN Cordae.

Osaka withdrew from this year’s Australian Open and stated she would return in 2024 and looks forward to playing in front of her future child.

“The past few years have been interesting, to say the least, but I find that it’s the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun,” she wrote. “These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to. I realize that life is so short, and I don’t take any moments for granted. Every day is a new blessing and adventure.”

“I know that I have so much I look forward to in the future; one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom,’ haha. 2023 will be a year,” she continued. “That’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one because I’ll be at AUS 2024. Love you all infinitely.”

“Side note: I don’t think there’s a perfectly correct path to take in life, but I always felt that if you move forward with good intentions, you’ll find your way eventually,” she added.

Osaka and Cordae began dating in 2019 for almost a year before media outlets and fans caught on to them, Vibe reports.

“We were dating for almost a year before people knew about us. So we kind of move very reclusively. We don’t really post intimate moments because I feel as if they’re sacred. A relationship is really a sacred thing,” Cordae said.

Their couple debut came with widespread support, so much so that they graced the cover of GQ‘s Modern Love piece, where Cordae confessed not knowing how popular of an athlete his girlfriend is.

“It’s not my sport. If you asked me about tennis before being immersed in it because of Naomi, I could only give you Venus and Serena Williams, you know? Because they’re just a part of the culture,” Cordae told GQ.

Congratulations to the new little family!
