As soon as Kanye West announced he was producing Nas' latest album, fans lost it! Right after his announcement a slew of highly unfavorable events occurred involving both men: 'Ye's MAGA hat fiasco and Kelis accused Nas of spousal abuse.
The album, entitled Nasir, arrived June 15.
Wednesday afternoon, Nas posted a tweet gushing about his work experience with Kanye.
Working with Kanye is working with a young Quincy Jones. A musical genius.— Nasir Jones (@Nas) June 20, 2018
Wow, that may be giving him a lot of credit. While Kanye's past musical contributions are undeniable, many have not forgiven him for his comments about President Trump. And so, Twitter had much to say about the tweet.
Quincy Jones represented many civil and human rights aspects over the years, and did NOT marginalize ppl in his artisrty. Kanye is his own kind of genie— Tee Jellz (@TJelli_) June 20, 2018
Comparing Kanye or anyone else to Quincy Jones is blasphemy…— Cookin Soul (@CookinSoul) June 20, 2018

It was not all backlash, though. Some fans agreed Kanye is the Quincy Jones of this generation:
not to really bro, Ye has produced some of the best moments in music the past 10 or 15 years. to me he is my generations Quincy Jones.— shai (@beenhadthewave) June 20, 2018
