Nathalie Emmanuel has been tapped to star in Universal’s The Killer remake opposite Omar Sy.
The project is a reimagining of the 1989 John Woo film, which he is also the director of, and will produce. Emmanuel’s casting in the film, which will be on Peacock, was announced by Deadline.
The original movie starred Chow Yun Fat and chronicles an assassin who takes one last assignment to use his earnings to pay for the surgery that will restore the sight of a singer he blinded.
The streaming giant announced The Killer as one of three upcoming original films scheduled for release this year. The film’s screenplay was written by writing partners Matthew Stuecken and Josh Campbell, as well as Eran Creevy and Brian Helgeland.
Emmanuel had her breakout role as Missandei in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones from 2013–2019. From there, she starred in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, its sequel Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the Fast & Furious films Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, F9, and Army of Thieves.
