Today in history… July 18th, 1918, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, anti-apartheid activist and later the first South African president to be elected in a fully democratic election, serving from 1994 to 1999, was born in Mvezo, a village in the district of Umtata, in Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

Happy 93rd birthday Mr Mandela, or should I say Madiba; Needless to say, he’s lived quite a lengthy and involved life.

Over the years, he’s been portrayed on both the big and small screens by the likes of Sidney Poitier, Morgan Freeman, and most recently Terrence Howard.

And, of course there have been several documentaries, like the one below – the 2004 100-minute feature length doc, titled Madiba: The Life and Times of Nelson Mandela, produced by Canadian public broadcaster CBC.
