New York Magazine broke the internet after dropping its end-of-the-year cover story, which explored one of the year’s biggest pop culture trends: nepotism (or nepo, for short) babies. The feature, which included altered images of famous nepo babies’ heads on actual babies’ bodies, deeply delved into how the children of Hollywood legends dominate the industry.

As part of his analysis, writer Nate Jones exposed actors’ and actresses’ generational ties to Tinseltown. One family tree, in particular, had Twitter in a tizzy: Jake Cannavale’s.

The son of actor Bobby Cannavale (no surprises there) and actress Jenny Lumet, Jake’s maternal grandmother is Gail Lumet, the daughter of legendary Black singer, actress and activist Lena Horne, making Horne Jake’s great-grandmother.

Twitter was shocked to discover the connection between the Stormy Weather love interest and the Cannavale family.

“This is my favorite nepo baby chart bar none,” a user shared.

“THIS IS LENA HORNE’S GRANDCHILD!?” another exclaimed.

“No because it’s crazy to think that Bobby Cannavale was nepotism’d in through MARRIAGE. First two film roles… directed by Sidney Lumet,” one wrote.

“This one chart is BANANAS,” another tweeted.

And one user was more surprised at how the magazine described Horne.

“DANCER before SINGER as her notable talent?” they questioned.
