Lauren LaRay definitely isn’t your typical third grader. Aside from being an honor roll student and YouTuber, the 8-year-old has added some extra sparkle to her #BlackGirlMagic this year by making her own custom wigs for little girls suffering from cancer.

“My best friend’s little sister has cancer and I just felt bad for her,” Lauren shared with KSNV News. She later added, “Some of them will be blonde; some of them will be redheaded for redheaded little girls. I’ll have a whole bunch because other girls have other styles for their hair.”

LaRay has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to purchase supplies, which include wig caps, crochet needles and weaving hair, and plans to make 30 wigs by the summer.

Although the elementary school student has started to get some well-deserved media attention for her initiative, she isn’t necessarily looking to receive any special recognition for her work, “I won’t need a thank you, I’ll just see a smile on their face and I’ll be happy.”

Adorable.
