I’ve already made public my prediction that this will be the highest-grossing “Expendables” movie of the 3, and just might surprise to the upside, exceeding expectations, becoming one of this summers biggest hits, when it’s released during towards the tail-end of the season.

I know I’m already excited to see it, 2 months ahead, and this first full trailer (unlike the shorter teasers we’ve been teased with over the last couple of months) suggests that my expectations will be met. A somewhat old school, late summer, men-on-a-mission thrill ride that doesn’t try to be anything more than what it knows it is. No pretensions; just R-rated action-packed, non-PC adult fun. You’re either with it, or you’re not.

It’ll mark Wesley Snipes’ first major gig post-prison, after serving a 3-year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania for tax evasion, and I think his presence alone will be a draw, if only because audiences (especially fans of his) will be absolutely thrilled to see him on the big screen again, doing what he does best, after what seems like ages since his last hit.

But not just him. Snipes will be part of an ensemble cast of heavy-hitters like Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson, fresh faces who both join the existing group that includes Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Jason Statham and others.

Also, Kelsey Grammer and Antonio Banderas are in this one as well. I’m surprised Stallone didn’t get Jackie Chan for this one. He’d fit right in!

So you’ve got a nice mix of backgrounds there, covering 4 continents.

“The Expendables 3” is set for an August 15, 2014 release.

Patrick Hughes is director.

Here’s the new, much longer trailer, revealing a bit more footage than the previous:
