Some DVDs and/or Blu-rays for you to pick up (purchase or rent) this week – especially if you haven't seen them, and are interested in doing so.

First… I'm sure you've heard of it: Beasts Of The Southern Wild. Benh Zeitlin's striking feature film debut starring Quvenzhane Wallis and Dwight Henry – a film that's been much-buzzed about, racking up awards all over the map it seems.

Winners of the S&A Beasts Blu-ray giveaway will be contacted this afternoon, so if you entered the competition last week, watch your email inboxes, just in case you're a winner.

Second… a film you may not be as familiar with, although we've covered it, which stars Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant.

Titled Thunderstuck, the film co-stars Brandon T. Jackson, and centers on a kid named Brian – a hopelessly uncoordinated young fan who magically switches talents with his basketball hero (NBA Superstar Kevin Durant, playing himself), he becomes the star of his high school team…while Kevin Durant suddenly can't make a shot to save his life. But with the playoffs approaching, Brian learns that being a true winner involves working hard at your own game, and he tries to make things right in time to prevent a catastrophic end to his hero's season.

Taylor Gray and Jim Belushi round out the cast. You'll also see a few sports celebrity cameos like Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley.

John Whitesell directed the film, from a script penned by Eric Champnell.

And lastly, maybe the least recognizable, although we've covered it as well – the acclaimed Venezuelan drama Hermano (or Brother), directed by Marcel Rasquin from a script penned by Rasquin and Rohan Jones.

An Academy Awards Submission for Venezuela in 2011, the film focuses on the journey two brothers Daniel (Fernando Moreno) and Julio (Eliú Armas), take, as they struggle to become professional soccer players amidst slum life and tragedy. 

Here's its full synopsis:

Raised as brothers, intense teammates and competitors on the soccer field – the gregarious, swaggering Julio (Eliu Armas) and the wiry, focused Daniel/“Gato” (Fernando Moreno) have remained virtually inseparable ever since the newborn Daniel was found abandoned in a trash heap in their La Ceniza slum. The opportunity of their lives arrives when a football scout invites them to try out for the city's top professional team, just as a tragic act of violence threatens to tear them apart and prevent them from achieving their dreams.
