All films we've covered on S&A; first 13, a remake of the 2006 French film of the same name – a minimalist, black and white, atmospheric, tense thriller that I enjoyed, the feature film debut for Géla Babluani, the young French filmmaker of the original, who also wrote and directed this remake, which I hear is terrible; at least, so says one of its stars, Mickey Rourke.

The American remake stars Sam Riley, 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and Ray Winstone.

Secondly, a documentary from Ethan Higbee and Adam Bhala Lough on the life of Jamaican reggae pioneer and legend Lee Scratch Perry. We interviewed both directors several months ago, when the film was traveling the country in a limited theatrical release.

And last, but not least, in sync with its PBS broadcast premiere this Friday, November 11th, Kartemquin Films will begin shipping DVDs of its acclaimed documentary A Good Man on the same day. The documentary follows renowned director/choreographer Bill T. Jones (FELA!) as he and his company develop an original dance-theater piece in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s Bicentennial.
