Nas is executive producing The Land, a boys to men flick about a group of friends dream of being professional skateboarders.
Written by Steven Caple Jr., and set in Cleveland, the movie’s cast touts names like musical artists Erykah Badu and Machine Gun Kelly, as well as Michael K. Williams from The Wire, Kim Coates of Son’s of Anarchy, and fresh blood Jorge Lendeborg Jr.
Lendeborg Jr. stars as Cisco, the film’s protagonist that finds himself, and his friends, in a very compromising situation trying to fund his entry into a skateboarding competition. After showing at Sundance, The Land received positive feedback for the power of the story and performances by the cast, but also the soundtrack which boasts tracks from Kanye West, Pusha T, Jeremih, French Montana, Nosaj Thing, and Badu. The music will be released on the same day as the film on Mass Appeal Records, Nas’s label.
The Land is set to release July 29th.
