Whatever happened to good black comedies? Black-ish is one of the only black sitcoms on primetime TV right now. Before its premiere, we’d been hurting for a good black comedy since The Game and Everybody Hates Chris were cancelled in 2009. Don’t lie, every now and then you scroll through your channel guide hoping to come across a re-run of The Fresh Prince of Bel-air or Girlfriends (if you have cable, that is). Or, you’ve been binge-watching A Different World on Netflix. No matter how you’ve been coping, we all know one thing —industry executives aren’t giving us what we need, so we’ve had to turn to creating it ourselves.

On April 1st, the first episode of a new web series called We Got a Good Thing dropped on YouTube. The title alone screams black, 90s-inspired goodness. Per the description, it’s a series that revolves around the interracial relationship of Sean, an aspiring photographer from Virginia, and Lisa, a medical assistant and aspiring RN. As with any good sitcom, you also have the best friends, who occasionally pop in to give their two-cents (needed, or not). The first few minutes of the episode will have you feeling as though you’ve been catapulted to your childhood days of watching Martin or The Jamie Foxx Show. Don’t believe us? Watch it below:

A new episode of We Got a Good Thing will be released every Friday morning on their YouTube Channel. For more information about the series, visit their website.
