A French man faces criminal charges after a New York woman died following a jet ski accident in St. Lucia last week.

Evans Ramos, 28, of Cosmellieur, France, was arrested by the Royal St. Lucia Police Force and charged with reckless manslaughter, ABC News reported.

Officers responded to a call regarding a jet ski accident on April 7 and confirmed Jazmine Chandler-Tabb was the woman who lost her life while tubing on Reduit Beach.

Local police said Chandler-Tabb was a passenger in the floating device when the recreational activity turned deadly.

“The jet ski collided into the tube, resulting in the death of the young lady,” a police official told the news outlet.

The victim’s wife, Natiya Joseph, said she is “devastated” following the loss of her partner in the heartbreaking tragedy.

“I’m just devastated, she was my friend, my partner, she was just my everything,” she told ABC News.

The Bronx, New York, couple and their daughter Aniya visited the island on April 6 to celebrate Joseph’s father’s 80th birthday on April 8, per the outlet.

Joseph said the couple would have celebrated their second wedding anniversary in May. The grieving widow shared loving words in remembrance of her wife.

“Jazmine was very loving, very supporting, she was encouraging,” Joseph said. “She was always smiling, huge smile.”

A police source also confirmed Ramos was the driver in the jet ski incident. He was visiting the Caribbean as a cruise ship passenger and remains in custody on the island.

“I hope that he gets the justice that he deserves,” Joseph said.
