The New York Liberty’s mascot, Ellie the Elephant, has captured the hearts of many as she often performs alongside the team’s dance troupe, the Torch Patrol, during games. Her impressive dance moves and twerking to hip-hop music have the internet wanting the person’s identity revealed.

According to The New York Times, Ellie officially became the team’s mascot in 2021 after they relocated to the Barclays Center. Since then, the dancing elephant has entertained fans at home and away games during the WNBA season. While the Liberty competes for a championship title, Ellie and her dance moves are at the forefront to provide additional support.

On Sunday, Ellie and the Torch Patrol dancers performed alongside rapper Lil’ Kim at the Barclays Center during Game 3 of the WNBA Finals. The halftime performance was a mashup of the Brooklyn native’s hits, including “Lighters Up,” with Ellie doing what she does best, per Vibe.

The clip made its rounds on social media, with ESPN W posting the performance to its TikTok account. However, another video of Ellie’s dance moves has since gone viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.

On Monday, the 22-second video of Ellie dancing to Lil’ Kim‘s “Crush On You” sparked user reactions as they praised her for entertaining the crowd.

“Oh she gave me my own show yesterday 💀💀,” @crissles wrote alongside the video.

“Someday I need to know who is in there,” @bahnsiojo expressed.

“Ellie is a VIBE! These other professional mascots need to study her!” @ElleJayEm insisted.

Meanwhile, another user insisted Ellie’s sassiness and twerking come from being a Black woman.

“That is a black woman in there,” @DatsMeMyraM proclaimed.

As for the Liberty, they forced a Game 4 after defeating the Las Vegas Aces 87-73, according to ESPN.
