The NFL Network is feeling some heat after making a gaffe during the NFL Draft on Thursday. The unfortunate moment happened when the network highlighted NFL Draft prospect Malik Willis on social media.
“The proud look @malikwillis‘ mom is giving him,” the social media team wrote on Twitter, posting a photo of the athlete with a woman who’s not actually his mother.
As it turned, the woman in the photo is actually Willis’ grandmother.
Willis went to Twitter to correct the NFL Network.
“That’s my grandma,” he tweeted with laughing emojis.
That’s my grandma 😂😂 https://t.co/pNcD7uuSqz

The social media team then laughed at itself.
Oops. 😅
Grandma lookin' good!

Some people were seriously disappointed with the error.
Too lazy to find out who is in the picture.

Damn. No research.

Some also credited Willis’ grandma for looking so young.
Black don’t crack! Shout out to granny 👑

Willis wasn’t drafted on Thursday. But it looks like he found a story to tell for many years.
Meanwhile, the folks at the NFL Network may be begging for Elon Musk to finally bring an edit button to Twitter.
