The Late Late Show with James Corden‘s Carpool Karaoke is finally back after going on hiatus amid the pandemic. The segment returned with Nicki Minaj and the episode was filled with laughter and nostalgia, Hip Hop DX reports. The “Super Bass” rapper and host James Corden rapped some of Minaj’s best throwback hits.

They didn’t waste a beat once Minaj joined Corden in the infamous Carpool Karaoke whip. The duo started off with the rapper’s 2014 hit “Anaconda.” Minaj was also quick to show off her British accent, impersonating Adele who nailed Minaj’s verse in Ye’s 2010 track “Monster.”

Corden asked if Minaj had seen Adele rap her verse before she affirmed she had.

“I just loved it,” she said. “It made me so so happy. She embodied Nicki Minaj.”

Later, Corden and Minaj sang along to Adele’s song “Someone Like You.”

Minaj also rapped along to “Super Bass,” her new track “Blick Blick!” with Coi Leray, “Do We Have A Problem?” “Starships” and more. She even free styled while Corden gave her a beat.

Corden surprised Minaj when he whipped out a clarinet, which the rapper revealed she played as a child. The host then asked if she could still play before she squeaked out a couple of notes before rapping along to “Chun Li.”

In a poignant moment during the segment, Minaj opened up about her struggles with anxiety and dealing with constant criticism, Rolling Stone reports.

“I think when I was younger, probably my more natural state was to be more confident. But I think when you are a woman and you’re in the public eye all the time, if you’re not careful, you can become less confident because you’re being constantly scrutinized,” Minaj said. “It’s not natural for a human being to just always feel like everyone’s critiquing them.”

She also told Corden that she chews ice to help her cope with stress and anxiety.
