Actress and comedian Niecy Nash said she is finding herself by being in love with the “most beautiful soul" ever.

In an interview with People Magazine this week, Nash revealed details of her private wedding ceremony and the keys to her invigorating marriage with singer Jessica Betts.

"[My marriage] has absolutely nothing to do with gender and it has everything to do with her soul," Nash said of her partner. "She is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life."

As Blavity previously reported, the couple shocked their fans when they posted pictures of the wedding ceremony on social media on Aug. 31.

"I was not suppressing my sexuality my whole life," Nash said. "I love who I love. At one point in my life, I married twice and I love those people. And today I love this person. I've done everything I wanted to do on my own terms and my own way.”

Nash’s marriage with Betts comes less than a year after she announced that she and ex-husband Jay Tucker split. Last October, she wrote they were better off as good friends than marriage partners. But Nash isn’t comparing her current relationship with where she might have been in the past.

"I don’t feel like my marriage is my coming out of anywhere, but rather [I’m] going into myself and being honest about who I love," she said. "And I’m not limiting myself on what that love is supposed to look like.”

Nash and Betts first met on social media in 2015, while Nash was married to Tucker. The 50-year-old told People their bond grew fast, but Nash initially saw Betts platonically.

Once Nash and Tucker announced their mutual split, the Reno 911 actress said her relationship with the 41-year-old singer evolved into something magical.

“I loved her before I was in love with her because she is such a special human being,” Nash said. “But we began to see each other in a way we never had before. Sometimes you get so broken by love, you run from it. But I’ve learned that you should always hold space for magic because it can happen at any time.”

According to People, the pair was married in front of more than 20 of their closest friends and family at their home in Ventura County, California, on Aug. 29.

The “rustic chic” event included food by renowned Chef Will Jones and custom face masks with messages that read “#LoveWins.” Shortly after the wedding, the couple enjoyed a small honeymoon in Santa Barbara.

The Claws actress says she is hopeful about this next stage in her life.

"I’ve got my feet up, I’m looking at the ocean and I’ve got the greatest love of my life in my peripheral. I couldn’t be happier,” Nash said.
