Nikki Amuka-Bird (Luther) has been cast in the Cinemax drama pilot Quarry, an adaptation of the popular Max Allan Collins novels.
Collins is probably best known for his novel Road To Perdition. This pilot episode will be directed by John Hillcoat.
According to Deadline, Quarry is set in the 1970s and centers on Marine sniper Quarry
(Logan Marshall-Green) who, upon his return home from Vietnam in 1973,
finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public.
Amuka-Bird will play Ruth, the wife of Quarry’s friend, fellow former
Marine Artie.
Quarry will also feature performances from Stellan Skarsgard (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones).
This sounds like an interesting role for her, but I’m still waiting for the day when it’s announced that Amuka-Bird is cast as the lead in one of these pilots. She’s really that good, and she deserves the chance to show it. I’m just saying.
Amuka-Bird will likely next be seen when BBC’s Luther returns to TV screens later this year, as well as in the Wachowski sibling’s upcoming picture, Jupiter Ascending.
