Professional boxer and two-time Olympic gold medalist Nicola Adams was recently honored with her very own Barbie doll in celebration of International Women’s Day.

As part of Women’s History Month, International Women’s Day aims to spread awareness about the accomplishments of women, while striving towards inclusivity and greater representation. Ahead of the day, which is on March 8, Barbie released several dolls, including pilot Amelia Earhart, artist Frida Khalo, and NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, amongst others in what the doll brand calls the"Inspiring Women" and "Shero" lines.

Adams has earned her place amongst these remarkable women through her boxing accomplishments, and by acting as a voice for both the black and LGBTQIA+ community as an openly bisexual woman. She is Barbie’s first boxer.

"Growing up, my biggest role models were my mum and Muhammad Ali — there were no female boxers in media when I was a kid, and I might have discovered my passion sooner if I'd seen other women boxing,” Adams told the BBC Tuesday. “That why empowering the next generation of kids is something I’m passionate about and it’s great to work with Barbie to share my story.”

She went on to add, "I hope my doll inspires young girls to believe that they can break boundaries in whatever they choose to do."
