In what I believe would be his first true Hollywood starring role (certainly his first English-language film), Frenchman Omar Sy is said to be "in talks" to star alongside Bradley Cooper (who is everywhere it seems these days) in a culinary comedy tentatively-titled Chef, for The Weinstein Company.
With Derek Cianfrance, who directed Cooper in The Place Beyond the Pines, set to helm the feature, from a script penned by the writer of Eastern Promises (Steven Knight), Chef will center on a disgraced chef, played by Cooper, who, after losing his highly-rated restaurant in Paris, decides to reassemble his kitchen crew in London, intent on recreating a similarly highly-rated restaurant in that city.
No word yet on what Omar Sy's role would be exactly, assuming he does eventually sign on to the project.
Up next for Sy is Michel Gondry's whimsical Parisian romance Mood Indigo, which should be out some time this year.
