Starting in the Fall of 2017, Oprah Winfrey will be joining the ultimate journalistic storytelling crew. Winfrey will be joining the 60 Minutes team as a special contributor. One look at Winfrey's track record, and it's no surprise why the media mogul was chosen as the perfect fit.
Winfrey hosted The Oprah Winfrey Show for 25 years, plus while hosting, she was able to establish her production company, Harpo Productions. This company is responsible for many successful shows and is also linked with various award-winning films such as "Selma". Winfrey shows her commitment to the world of communications with the development of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and O, The Oprah Magazine.
“I’m so excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program, which for me represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling," Winfrey said in an interview with CBS. "At a time when people are so divided, my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds.”
There seems to be no real journalistic feat that Winfrey can't accomplish. "She has achieved excellence in everything she has touched. Her body of work is extraordinary, including thousands of interviews with people from all walks of life," Executive Producer of 60 Minutes, Jeff Fager said during an interview with CBS. "She is a remarkable and talented woman with a level of integrity that sets her apart and makes her a perfect fit for 60 Minutes. I am thrilled that she will be bringing her unique and powerful voice to our broadcast.”
