As you may recall last week, I posted an item reporting that Dreamworks Animation's latest animated film Rise of the Guardians, directed by Peter Ramsey, looked like it was going to be a big loser for the studio domestically.
The $145 million movie has grossed only $62.25 million so far in the U.S. That's not good, to say the least.
However, overseas, it looks like a different story. The film has already opened in 45 foreign markets in the parts of Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America, and, all together, has grossed $90.5 million, making its total box office to date, $152,755,936.
All this proving once again that overseas markets are the most important box office factor for films.
In fact, the film is currently the No. 1 box office performer overseas, and will open in Australia this weekend.
Then again, once The Hobbit opens this Friday (and already there are projections that the film will do over $70 million in the States on Friday alone) all bets are off.
