On Monday, we announced the exciting news that filmmaker and professor Ayoka Chenzira had partnered with acclaimed best-selling author Pearl Cleage to bring her novels to the screen, in what has been dubbed The Pearl Cleage Film Project (www.pearlcleagefilmproject.com).

The two Pearl Cleage novels that will get first looks are also 2 of her most popular: Babylon Sisters, which was featured on Essence's Book Club list, and What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day, which was an Oprah's Book Club selection and stayed on the New York Times Best Seller list for nine weeks.

I'm working to get interviews with both Cleage and Chenzira to expound on their collaboration. But in the meantime, you should know that on the project's website, there is a blog section which contains both video and text, featuring interviews with Cleage, Chenzira, the producers, industry guests and others associated with the project, as they come on board.

A total of 6 videos have been posted thus far; I selected the first 3, which both women discuss their collaboration, the content and themes of both Cleage novels, and being selected for Oprah's Book Club.
