Kanye West is getting a lesson about women’s reproductive health after another one of his rants.
In an interview with DJ Big Boy on Friday to promote his new album Jesus Is King, the rapper discussed the left and why he doesn’t align with liberal views, claiming Democrats “brainwash” Black people. In the rant, he compared Plan B — an emergency contraceptive that lowers your chances of getting pregnant — to abortion.
"Democrats had us voting Democrats for food stamps for years, bro," the "Jesus Walks" rapper said. "Guns in the '80s, taking the fathers out the homes, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort our children. Thou shalt not kill."
Many are now questioning whether the father of four understands the difference between the pill and abortion, including healthcare companies.
A representative for Foundation Consumer Healthcare, the pharmaceutical company that makes Plan B One-Step, told TMZ that their pill is not in any way connected to the process of abortion.
"Plan B emergency contraception is a safe and effective backup option when used as directed after unprotected sex or birth control failure,” said FHC. "Plan B helps prevent pregnancy before it starts by delaying ovulation. Plan B is not an abortion pill — it will not harm an existing pregnancy and it will not be effective if a woman is already pregnant.”
Planned Parenthood also entered the conversation, responding to West’s claim that Democrats brainwashed Black Americans into killing their babies. A representative for the organization said Black women have had a leading role in fighting for access, education and rights.
"As Black women, we make our own decisions about our bodies and pregnancies, and want and deserve to have access to the best medical care available. Misinformation like this is meant to shame us and keep us from making our own health care decisions,” said the representative. “Black women want and deserve support and access to the full range of reproductive health care, but this persistent lie is threatening our ability to obtain it."
In the interview West also doubled down on his support for Trump.
