A few weeks ago, New York's New Voices in Black Cinema Festival presented a special screening of Theodore Witcher's 1997 cult classic film love jones, where Witcher and co-star Lisa Nicole Carson attended and gave insights into the making of the film. Beyond the pleasure of seeing the movie back on the big screen 15 years later, what was truly evident was the impact it had on a generation of moviegoers who would continue to crave black romance films afterwards.
Today, as we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the film's release, it's clear that there will never be another love jones.
Commemorating the anniversary, find a compilation of all things love jones below. If you're not sure why folks love the film so much, read on. And if you're already a fan, feel free to chime in with your favorite quotes and memories in the comments.
