I'd actually forgotten all about this project; IMDBPro lists it as being in post-production since last November, but I suspect that there is some visual effects work that needs to be done in post, which may be why it's been in post for 8 months and counting.
Recapping… Big Beach Films announced last summer that its film adaptation of Marie Phillips' 2007 novel Gods Behaving Badly would feature a star-studded cast including Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad, Rosie Perez, and True Blood's Nelsan Ellis.
Phillips' bestselling graphic novel centers on a world where fallen gods are forced to live and work like regular people – as phone sex operators, dog walkers, and busy-bodies nosing into each other's affairs.
The film, adapted by Josh Goldfaden and Marc Turtletaub, takes a turn from the original story set in London and instead is set in a brownstone in New York City.
Rashad, Perez, and Ellis were cast as god/desses Demeter, Persephone and Dionysus, respectively, alongside Christopher Walken as Zeus, Sharon Stone as Aphrodite, Oliver Platt as Apollo, Edie Falco as Artemis, Gideon Glick as Eros, John Turturro as Hades, and Henry Zebrowski as Hermes.
Alicia Silverstone also stars as a mortal who gets caught up in the plight of the gods.
Under Turtletaub's directiong, the film was shot last summer, and, as I noted, has been in post-production since November.
No release date specified yet; not much media on it either (certainly no trailer, nor clips); but I did find some on-set images of the some of the key cast in costume and in character, which are included within this post.
