Dr. John Sampson, a surgeon at Seduction Cosmetic Center in Coral Gables, Florida, has officially been barred from performing popular Brazilian butt lift (BBL) cosmetic procedures after one of his patients died as a result of the surgery last year. Prior to his patient’s passing, he was barred from performing BBLs or any other surgeries on patients.
According to a complaint filed against Sampson’s license in 2021, both Seduction and Sampson informed the Florida Department of Health that he would only serve as the designated physician at Seduction Cosmetic Surgery and would not actually perform any surgeries himself. However, that was not the case. Between April 2021 throughout June 2021, Sampson allegedly cut several patients, and the Miami Herald reports that the disgraced doctor illegally performed seven surgeries on June 16, 2021, alone.
According to an administrative complaint filed against Sampson’s medical license, during one of those illegal surgeries on June 16, Sampson punctured a patient’s liver and intestines while taking fat from her abdomen to put into her gluteal muscles. That BBL technique has been illegal in Florida since 2019.
The patient died later that night at the age of 33. The complaint also alleges that the center and Sampson manipulated the patient’s paperwork.
News of Sampson’s punishment was announced by the Florida Board of Medicine this past Friday. In addition to not performing BBL surgeries, Sampson must pay a $20,000 fine and $5,626 for investigation costs. He must acquire five hours of medical education in medical records keeping and present an hour-long lecture on liposuction and gluteal fat grafting (according to the Miami Herald, BBL surgeries are a type of both surgeries). He is also barred from holding a designated physician position at any office surgery center.

Sampson still keeps his medical license and on Seduction Cosmetic’s website, Sampson is still listed as a “board certified surgeon,” though his Florida Department of Health profile lists his only certification — the American Board of Plastic Surgery — as suspended, the Herald reports.
For as little as $4,500, those desiring a more curvy body type have gravitated to Seduction Cosmetic Center for the popular yet dangerous Brazilian butt lift procedure. Sampson’s patients have been referred to on social media as “Sampson Stallions” or “Sampson Dolls.”
This incident marks the second time in five years that the death of a BBL has led to a doctor at Seduction Cosmetic being banned from performing the procedure. In 2017, Dr. Osakatukei Omulepu was barred from performing the surgery after one of his patients at Seduction by Jardon, the name under which the center operated back then, died.
